Volcanic Mud Baths

Today was the day of the volcano, Ricon de la Viejo. We drove (or rather Sam drove and I freaked out in the passenger seat while he passed 4 cars and a bus in one swoop) into the mountains to see an active volcano! Yes how amazing would that have been?! As we drove farther and farther up a gravel road, that was constructed of leftover rock shards, we realized that our splendid volcano was surrounded by fog and clouds. Unless it started spewing lava in the next hour we wouldn’t be seeing any puffs of smoke. So us girls did the next best thing. Lava mud baths at a spa! We sat in a sauna, painted ourselves with volcanic mud, let it dry, and then jumped in a natural hot springs pool. Who doesn’t like playing in mud?
