Amsterdam street art

Funky, colorful, talented, political, cover up, living…graffiti and street art peaks my curiosity. But I know little (bordering on nothing) about the artists, purpose, longevity, or skill of the art. I read an article calling Amsterdam street artists avant-garde and today’s Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Vermeer. I am anything but avant-garde. I’d call myself painfully mainstream and my fashion sense (whatever H&M puts on a mannequin). I don’t understand their political campaigns or the artist world. However, I am moved by the images and enjoy the vibrant colors on a unique canvas. It’s a free and ever changing museum in Amsterdam. Within steps of the famous Van Gogh Museum (Van Gogh who was considered radical and cut off his own ear…) I remind myself that I could be walking in shadows of greatness.
